30 Teams in 30 Days: Minnesota Timberwolves

In this edition of our "30 Teams in 30 Days" NBA season preview series, we'll make a visit to Minneapolis, where we'll preview a Minnesota Timberwolves team that had a huge makeover in the off-season, but will it capitalize into wins during the regular season?

Last season's record: 40-42(3rd in Northwest Division/10th in Western Conference)

Head Coach: Flip Saunders(17th season, 638-526 overall; 11th season with MIN)

Arena: Target Center(19,356)

Website: Timberwolves.com

Last season, Flip Saunders made his much anticipated return to the Timberwolves sidelines, and in return, his team did put up a strong fight in not only the Northwest Division, but in the Western Conference as well, vying for a playoff spot down the stretch.  But their 40-42 mark was not good enough for Minnesota, as they would miss the playoffs, and the big question that Minnesota had to answer was this: What would the future hold for Kevin Love?

The answer was solved, when they traded him to Cleveland for Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett, and Thaddeus Young.  Now, with a fresh slate of players, and returning favorites such as Corey Brewer, and Kevin Martin, the Timberwolves are well determined to get back into the playoffs for the first time since 2005, and hopefully, this adjustment could benefit the organization as a whole down the road.

Upcoming team previews in the "30 Teams in 30 Days" series:

  • Thursday: Memphis Grizzlies
  • Friday: Indiana Pacers
  • Saturday: Chicago Bulls
  • Sunday: Milwaukee Bucks
  • Monday Detroit Pistons
  • Tuesday: Cleveland Cavaliers
  • Next Wednesday: Toronto Raptors
