Series history(since the original Hornets first season in 1988-89): ATL leads all-time series 55-42

The Charlotte Hornets will continue their play inside the Southeast Division on Friday night as they welcome in the 1-2 Atlanta Hawks to Time Warner Cable Arena.  Charlotte is coming off a huge win last night over the Miami Heat 96-89, ending their long 16-game losing streak against Miami, and ending it's three-game losing skid too, while Atlanta dropped a close one to the reigning NBA champion San Antonio Spurs 94-92 last night in San Antonio.

Scouting the Hawks

The Hawks are currently on a mini 2-game road trip, which got off to a tough start last night in San Antonio as their comeback wasn't good enough to bring down the defending NBA champion Spurs 94-92, despite Demarre Carroll and Paul Millsap each scoring 17 to lead Atlanta.  The Hawks look to bounce back from their loss on Wednesday night as they make the trek up I-85 North to Charlotte for the first of 4 meetings in the "Interstate Series" against the Charlotte Hornets, before they return home to Philips Arena on Saturday night for a showdown against Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks.

Scouting the Hornets

Prior to Wednesday night, Charlotte was 0-for-16 against the Heat during the LeBron James era in South Beach.  On their 17th try, they finally broke through, as Al Jefferson's 28 point performance helped the Hornets end their long drought against the Heat in their 96-89 win last night at "The Hive" to improve to 2-3 on the year.  The Hornets hope to get back to the .500 mark in their game tomorrow night at home against their rivals from down 1-85 South, the Atlanta Hawks, before Charlotte hits the road for a long 4-game, 7 day road trip starting on Sunday night in Los Angeles against the Lakers.
