Tonight at Time Warner Cable Arena, fans got their first look at the Charlotte Hornets for the first time since 2002 in preseason action as they took on the Orlando Magic in their third of eight preseason games leading up to the October 29th season opener against the Milwaukee Bucks. After trailing for most of the final 2 quarters of action, the Hornets looked to Jannero Pargo to make a late push, and it would easily pay off for Charlotte as they would defeat the Magic 99-97 to go to 2-1 on the preseason, while Orlando dropped to 2-1 as well.
It was a tale of two halves for both squads, as the Hornets would enter the half with a 57-50 edge, but in the third, the Magic would claw their way back into the game and would have a comfortable edge, but entering the 4th quarter, it would be Pargo's time to shine for the Hornets, as he would get some good praise from Steve Clifford on his solid play in the quarter to lead the Charlotte comeback to get the win. "I was going to go back with Roberts with five or six minutes left, but Jannero was playing so well." quoted Clifford, and Pargo did played well indeed, finishing up with 16 points off the bench for the Hornets, who shot 42.6% from the field in the win.
Leading the way was "Big Al" Jefferson with 20 points for Charlotte, despite grabbing down just 3 rebounds on the night, while Michael Kidd-Gilchrist chipped in 14 and Kemba Walker added 11 points. Finishing up the group of double-figure scorers for Charlotte was Gary Neal, who had 10 off the bench for the Hornets in tonight's win.
Orlando was led in scoring by Ben Gordon, who came back to Charlotte and lit up his former team with 17 points to lead the way for the Magic, which shot 44.6% from the field in the loss. Elfrid Payton and Tobias Harris each scored 14 points and Nikola Vucevic rounded out the Magic's group of double-figure scorers with 10.

The Charlotte Hornets were entering tonight's "Home" match-up at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina, coming off a tough outing on Wednesday in Philadelphia, where they lost to the 76ers by a 106-92 margin, looking for a spark to ignite in their second preseason game of the year, and for the second game in a row, Gary Neal would deliver another strong performance off the bench for Charlotte, as the Hornets got into the preseason win column with a 99-86 win over the Washington Wizards this evening in Greenville.
Charlotte would lead early, and never gave up the lead after starting out with a 12-2 lead in the first four minutes of the contest, and they had a large lead of 23, which was a good spot to see for the Hornets, who are 1-1 on the preseason slate.
Neal would finish the night with 19 points as he was rewarded with a start in the Hornets lineup for Steve Clifford's squad tonight, and his supporting cast did got in on the act as well, including Jannero Pargo, who added 15 points off the bench in his 17 minutes of action, and not to be outdone for the victorious Hornets were P.J. Hairston and Kemba Walker, who each had 13 points, and Al Jefferson picked up where he left off last season, with a double-double, 12 points and 10 rebounds. Charlotte shot 42.7% from the field, and their three-point percentage came to 46.4%.

For the first time in 12 years, the Charlotte Hornets will take the floor in their preseason opener against the Philadelphia 76ers. The franchise formerly known as the Charlotte Bobcats officially reclaimed the Hornets name back on May 20th, and not only that, the team also reacquired all the statistical history, records, and information of NBA basketball in Charlotte, meaning that the Hornets will own and have access to all the records from not only the Bobcats era(2004-2014), but all the records from the original Hornets run in Charlotte(1988-2002). Charlotte will be without Gerald Henderson, who underwent an MRI today and will be out for 1-2 weeks. Expect for Noah Vonleh and P.J. Hairston to get some minutes in their preseason debut in a Hornets uniform, while Al Jefferson is determined to have another breakout year for Charlotte in their preseason debut tomorrow in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia already made their preseason debut, falling to Boston by a 98-78 margin on Monday, and they look to bounce back in their preseason opener against the visiting Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday night at the Wells Fargo Center. Last season, the Sixers finished with a dismal 19-63 record, which saw them lose 26 straight games. But it's a new season for Philadelphia, with the addition of Joel Embid, and a talented young group of players, many hope that this is a turnaround year for the 76ers, and it will all start on Wednesday at home against Charlotte in their preseason home opener.

Hornets to play preseason game in Greenville on October 10th
Yesterday afternoon, the Charlotte Hornets announced that the team will play a preseason home game against the Washington Wizards on October 10th at 7:00 p.m. in Greenville, South Carolina at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena(formerly the Bi-Lo Center). This marks the first time that the team has played in Greenville since the franchise's founding in 2004 as the then-Charlotte Bobcats, while the original Hornets franchise played 2 preseason games in Greenville in 1999 and 2000 at the then-Bi-Lo Center.
Tickets will go on sale for the preseason game in Greenville tomorrow morning at 10:00 a.m. at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena and Time Warner Cable Arena box offices, online at ticketmaster.com, or by calling 704-HORNETS(467-6387).
Hornets Summer League schedule released
The NBA officially released its 2014 Samsung NBA Summer League schedule today, and the Hornets will open up their summer league schedule on July 11th at 8:30 p.m. against the Golden State Warriors, as the Charlotte Hornets will hit the floor for the first time since 2002. The Hornets will also be taking on the Sacramento Kings on July 13th at 6:00 p.m. and the following night, they will square off against the New York Knicks on July 14th(4:00 p.m.) The games on July 13th and 14th will be aired on NBA TV.
The 2014 Samsung NBA Summer League will have a tournament-style format again this year, with each team playing three-games apiece from July 11-15th, before they are seeded in the tournament round, beginning on July 16th and running up to the championship game on July 21st, with games taking place at the Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavilion on the campus of the University of Nevada-Las Vegas
